Lions Club of Pune Supreme was chartered on August 7, 1995, under the visionary leadership of our Charter President, Late MJF Lion Hasmukh Mehta. Since its inception, our club has remained steadfast in its mission to serve the underprivileged through impactful, need-based initiatives.
Our flagship initiative, the Jaipur Foot Camp, introduced during our Silver Jubilee Year, has become a signature activity, later adopted as a core annual program by our District. Over the years, our service efforts have expanded across multiple areas, including healthcare, education, social awareness, environment, youth development, women empowerment, and rehabilitation.
With a strong commitment to making a meaningful impact, we continue to drive transformative initiatives that uplift and empower communities.
For over two decades, our Lions Club has been dedicated to making a meaningful impact through various projects. Here’s a snapshot of our journey of giving back!
1️⃣ Aditya Prangan – A Special Home for Special Kids
Nestled in Sutarwadi Village (20 km from Pune), Aditya Prangan, in partnership with Sanskar Prathisthan, has been our labor of love since 1995. We started by constructing a dining hall and later helped build a home for adults with special needs in 1997. And every month, thanks to our generous member Lion Satish Karanjkar, groceries worth ₹15,000 are provided through his company’s CSR.
2️⃣ Rehabilitation Centre for Physically Challenged
In July 2010, we teamed up with Lions Club of Pune Aundh Pashan & Lions Club of Chiplun to build a rehabilitation center in Shringartali, Ratnagiri. This ambitious inter-district project became a reality in July 2012!
3️⃣ Bringing Vision to Rural Areas
October 2010 marked the launch of our Mobile Vision Clinic, in collaboration with Lions Club Pune Aundh Pashan Janseva Foundation. We donated a high-tech computerized eye screening machine fitted into a mobile van, taking much-needed eye care to underprivileged villages.
4️⃣ Empowering Adivasi Children
Since 2010, we’ve been working closely with Satyaniketan to uplift education for tribal children in the remote Sahyadri Hills (Shenit village, Ahmednagar, 227 km from Pune). Our impact includes:
✅ Renovating a 6000 sq. ft. dining hall (2010)
✅ Waterproofing a 3000 sq. ft. school terrace (2010)
✅ Building a 12,000 sq. ft. girls’ hostel with a toilet block (2014)
✅ Constructing a boys’ toilet block with hot showers (2015)
✅ Setting up a 3000 sq. ft. Children’s Health Park (2019)
✅ Donating books to Usha Desai Library (2019)
5️⃣ Transforming Warwadi Village (Shirval)
In 2016, we adopted Warwadi and introduced E-learning kits, solar street lights, and a monthly medical clinic—because a brighter future starts with better resources!
6️⃣ Comfort for RTO Visitors at Nasik Phata, Bhosari
Getting a driver’s license is stressful enough—imagine waiting under the sun for hours! In 2018, we stepped in and built a comfortable waiting lounge for 60 visitors at the Central Institute of Road Transport (CIRT), giving relief to over 50,000 visitors annually. Hats off to Lion Asha Kale for spearheading this!
7️⃣ Helping Fight COVID-19
In 2020, when the world needed us most, we donated a Cryogenic Oxygen Dura Cylinder to Khedekar Hospital, Bopodi, ensuring a steady oxygen supply (equivalent to 28 jumbo cylinders). This project, worth ₹3 lakh, was made possible with a generous ₹2.5 lakh donation from Chandukaka Saraf & Sons Pvt. Ltd. and contributions from our club members.
💙 None of this would be possible without our 42 amazing club members (12 inspiring women & 30 incredible men from diverse professions) and our esteemed donors who continuously support our mission. With our club’s 80G & CSR-registered Trust, we ensure that every donation—big or small—makes a real difference.
